چکیده

This paper derives equations that describe level-crossing rates and average fade durations for mobile receivers operating in spatially complicated multipath channels. The results are useful for describing fading statistics for wireless systems that operate in realistic propagation channels or employ smart antennas, adaptive arrays, or other technologies that lead to a non-omnidirectional distribution of multipath power in space.

Theory of Multipath Shape Factors for Small-Scale Fading Wireless Channels

This paper presents a new theory of multipath shape factors that greatly simplifies the description of small-scale fading statistics of a wireless receiver. A method is presented for reducing a multipath channel with arbitrary spatial complexity to three shape factors that have simple intuitive geometrical interpretations. Furthermore, these shape factors are shown to describe the statistics of...

Lcr of Sc Receiver Output Signal over Α-κ-μ Multipath Fading Channels

Wireless mobile communication system with selection combining (SC) diversity receiver is investigated in this paper. Received signal envelope experiences α-κ-μ short term fading resulting in system performance degradation. Level crossing rate (LCR) and average fade duration (AFD) of SC receiver output signal envelope are obtained as rapidly converging infinite series expressions. Numerically ev...

Comparison of the Level Crossing Rate and Average Fade Duration of Rayleigh, Rice, and Nakagami Fading Models with Mobile Channel Data

Level crossing rate (LCR) and average fade duration (AFD) of the signal envelope are two important second-order channel statistics, which convey useful information about the dynamic temporal behavior of multipath fading channels. In this paper and for a general non-isotropic scattering scenario, in which the mobile receives signal only from particular directions with different probabilities, we...

Level Crossing Rate of Ratio of Product of Two α-k-μ Random Variables and α-k-μ Random Variable

In this paper, the ratio of product of two α-k-μ random variables and α-k-μ random variable is analyzed. The closed form expression for average level crossing rate (LCR) of the ratio of product of two α-k-μ random variables and α-k-μ random variable is determined. The expression for level crossing rate of the ratio of product of two α-k-μ random variables and α-k-μ random variable can be used f...

Level crossing rate of L-branch SC receiver over α-k-μ fading channel in the presence α-k-μ co-channel interference

Wireless communication system operating over interference limited, α-k-μ multipath fading channel is considered. Closed form expressions for cumulative distribution function and level crossing rate of the ratio of two k-μ random variables and the ratio of the two α-k-μ random variables are calculated. These expressions are used for evaluation level crossing rate of wireless communication system...
